Ana Joins the Winners' Circle for April!

With more than 1400 minutes, Ana entered the coveted Team ExerCYize winner's circle for the month of April. She joined Dale (who reports walking miles and miles in San Francisco) and Bruce in the top three.
April was not a great month for Team ExerCYize-----it seems that the end of the semester slowed us down. But we face May, our final month, with renewed commitment, as evidenced by our tennis night.
We did log more than 12,000 minutes for April and we now have a grant total of 61,324 minutes! In order to improve our overall place, we all need to go all out in May!

The Team Hits the Courts with Coach Conlon

Team members spent a memorable summer evening on the tennis court under the expert guidance of Coach Conlon. The team ran, skipped, hopped and demonstratede amazing agility as they enthusiastically participated in Conlon's drills.

Coaches Comments on the Evening's Events:

With Wimbledon only weeks away, I was very pleased with what I saw on the courts.

Marvelous Mary was definitely Marvelous and has been awarded the Teacher's Pet Award for her outstanding behavior. I wish ALL students raised their hands before speaking, like Mary

Boris Bernard, without a doubt, had the serve of his namesake. ( A little unruly before class with his buddy Bruce).

Bomber Backhand Bruce doesn't just have a backhand...he has a tremendous wingspan at the net and I can tell he doesn't like to lose.

Ad-in Ann certainly still has her touch and was awarded a "sprinkler dance," as was her friend Mary, for her super serve.

Dynamite Dale was explosive and had a strong finish at the end with his doubles partner in Bump the Chump.

Homerun Hargrave finished a few shy of Babe Ruth, 712, but with a full summer ahead, I think the fans will be treated to record setting season.

Next practice will cover eating strawberries and cream.

A Man Reaches the Top Three!

Although he placed third, Bruce Thompson has provided representation for male team members in the elite top three for the month of March. While Mary Bernard had over 3,000 minutes and Diane Niederhauser had over 2,000, Thompson inched in with 1960. Congratulations to all three!
Thompson did ask if minutes on international flights count (which would have also helped Dale), but the coach ruled, "no way!".

Has Anyone Seen This Man???

The pictured teammate seems to have disappeared from communication. On Thursday, March 2, he promised to turn in his munutes later that evening. Coach Thompson waited up most of the night to receive the final entry for the February team submission, but the results never came. Coach eagerly awaits word of his whereabouts......

The Women Win It All in February!

As you can see, the females on our team earned the February honors. Although we have one male still unreported, the current results show Mary Bernard and Diane Niederhauser as the big winners for Team ExcerCYize this month. Mary clocked 3875 minutes in beautiful Colorado and Diane earned 3200 minutes in chilly Iowa. Coach Thompson was a distant third with 1825.
And now it is time to begin working for the March hnors. I note that we have no repeat winners yet, so clearly the opportunities are wide open.
With one report still out, Team ExcerCYize clocked 17,810 minutes in Feburary. Assuming that we are burning 10 calories per minute with our vigorous exercise and that 3000 calories are needed to lose a pound, we should have lost 59 pounds or about 5 pounds each......
Keep up the good work!

Team ExerCYize in action....

As you can see, four members of Team ExcerCYize took the exercise challenge very seriously and traveled to Alta, Utah for three days of intense work. Coach had trouble believing that one team member (who counted 8 hours of golf in Florida) questioned counting skiing as exercise! Since Bruce Thompson led the group down numerous very scary double black runs, the adrenalin produced by the sheer terror of it all had to count for major cardiovascular activity.
In any case, these four really stacked up the minutes and look like the favorites for honors in February. Coach does not rule out the possibility of other team members rising to the challenge, however.
